Empower the Girl Child campaign 2021

Teen talk group
Tackling the Issue
Part of our work involves providing a safe space for local teens to discuss and ask questions regarding daily challenges of being a girl. This include the teen reproductive system, menstruation and their mental health. These small groups comprise of 6-8 girls meeting on a fortnight bases for alternative skill learning and girl chat series.
We see every challenge as an opportunity, and this initiative helps us ensure that our teens are better prepared to manage any unique situations they find themselves in. We are invested in an innovative approach that empowers our community and delivers the support they need, when they need it.

Ntombi Gateway ( whatsapp group) and instagram page
Social media platforms
Most of our efforts pertaining to this program involve reaching pregnant teens vis social media platforms. In this whatsapp group teens are encouraged to ask questions, information sharing content is beneficial for both pregnant teens and lactating teens. This is relatively new therefore growth is slow but steady due to stigma associated with adolescent pregnancy. At Thula Trust we ensure that we create a non judgemental atmosphere.

Education & Outreach
School workshops
Most of our efforts pertaining to this program involve using new approaches and developing innovative ways to implement them. A big part of our work entails working with local schools through workshops to bring awareness of adolescent pregnancy and support services avaliable to them.
